Here are some top tips to get you on your way, from the clever guys at Avery…

  1. Choose labels and paper products that are FSC-certified so that they are guaranteed to come from sustainable sources.
  2. Turn your heating down by 1 degree and watch your heating bill reduce as much as 10% per year!
  3. Turn off your computers when not in use, especially at night and at the weekends.
  4. Use calculators on PCs, laptops and mobile phones rather than buying separate ones.
  5. Use only the amount of water you need when boiling the kettle – you’ll get to know how much that is really quickly.
  6. Re-use envelopes, jiffy bags and cardboard packaging by simply blocking out a previous label with a new one and writing on that – especially good for internal communications.
  7. Ask your boss to provide clearly marked bins for paper, plastic bottles, card,  cans, food and glass.
  8. Set your printer default to double-sided printing and print on both sides of a sheet of paper.
  9. Add a strapline to your email sign off to discourage people from printing it.
  10. Tell colleagues what they can do to make a difference!
